Amcor hired BC Construction Group (BCCG) to complete the expansion and realized immediate and direct cost savings from increased storage on site rather than incurring the additional expense of leasing nearby space. The scope of work also included roof repairs, repainting the existing facility, new gutters, caulked joint repairs, as well as upgrades to the emergency response system.

‘Old Man Winter’ imposed challenges to the project, delivering severe weather events and extremely cold temperatures, which prevented the completion of the building pad and placement of concrete foundations and caused over 60 lost days to the schedule. Even so, as a skilled solutions provider, BCCG was not daunted. When weather permitted, BCCG chemically stabilized the pad to remove excess moisture, and then brought in additional stone to help protect the subgrade of the building pad until concrete slabs could be placed. So, despite significant lost days, the project was delivered within the contract timeframe and under budget with savings returned to the Owner.

The facility was constructed using 8-inch precast insulated concrete panels, structural steel columns, bar joists, metal decking with insulation and a TOP membrane. The scope of work also included 40 new parking spaces for employees and another 12 new spaces for semi-trailer parking.
